Training focuses on skill development for all participants. New to Athletics it’s about mastering fundamental movements that later become the basis for good technique. More experienced athletes can refine techniques that will lead to improved performance during competition. Training costs are included in your membership.
Arrive for Friday meets from 6pm for a 6:30pm sharp start. Parents of athletes must be present at all times and are expected to get involved in the running of competition. Athletics requires many volunteers as there is so much happening at once. Parents or caregivers travel from event to event with their child to give support. Jobs would include, measuring throws, raking sand in a jumps pit and recording results Events vary depending on the age group (see SALAA Standard Events and Specifications). • Children compete in age groups from U6 to U17. • For Tiny Tots (ages 3, 4 and some 5 year olds) we run a program of skill-based games from 6:30pm - 7:15pm. Our home meeting schedule runs on a program (this varies from week-to-week. Please see the events tab for the program. This gives athletes an opportunity to take part in a variety of events and a chance to record qualifying times or standards for eligibility to compete in the state championships. Drinks and BBQ items are for sale. Funds raised from the BBQ help to fund the running of the club.
